Authorized by the Labour Code, the Ministry of Finance specified the work schedule around bank holidays in 2020.

According to the ministerial decree, employees working in regular work pattern can calculate with two rescheduled rest days:

  • 21st August, Friday and
  • 24th December, Thursday

will be rescheduled rest days, resulting in four-day long weekends at both times. Employees will be able to rest for four consecutive days between Good Friday and Eastern Monday as well. 1st May and 23rd October will be Friday; so together with Pentecost, workers can plan next year with three three-day long weekends.

The ministerial decree also specifies rescheduled workdays on Saturdays:

  • 29th August and
  • 12th December

will be considered as workdays according to standard work pattern. The above-mentioned applies for employees who are employed in regular work pattern. Employers shall be entitled to derogate from these provisions unilaterally –  within the limits of provisions regarding time schedule.
